Pomerol ~ A Grand Old Lady 1994

As you see on the label and in glass, Vray Croix de Gay 1994 Pomerol 12.5% 馃嵎

What can we expect from a prized appellation historic bottle? Without furthering to-dos let’s get in! 馃挜馃憡馃徏 Advance with caution, great tasting notes, full drama, much humour but I am slightly rude, well quite a fair bit .. pour a glass & relax! You don’t get 1994 in a glass every day!

In 1994 I had started my first Big Band, the Loui k’Doobery south of Birmingham and begun my piano teaching visiting students in Worcestershire in a red Mazda 323 sports with pepperpot alloys and electric sunroof! Set!

We toured Somerset and played in Butlins and I got my first cat 馃悎鈥嶁瑳 Wiggles the following year, heady times with Shakespeare on the doorstep and Hook Norton brewery a tidy step into the Cotswolds

Where were you? 馃

Wines lasting this age are rare, for context I opened a 2002 Rh么ne at 20-21 years ageing and it had completely fallen to pieces, grape residue separated from water!! So this Pomerol, perfectly drinkable, is a masterpiece 馃弳馃帹馃枌

For inspiration hear my second afternoon’s tasting next day 馃憞馃徏

These elderly wines either blossom or die on a second day

Have some steam with that 馃殏馃殏馃殏馃殐馃殐馃殐馃殐
