Hullo!! 🍎😁🍏 Welcome to House of Feck Books 2026 Battle of the Ciders first stage! The plan = try 30 widely available GB ciders to discover the champ of 🏆champs!! What to look for in cider? I’ve chosen 9 criteria worth 6 pounts each and will taste test each on these points
Let me introduce this stage ciders 👇🏼
Getting drowsily and pleasantly hammered on good cider all afternoon and evening is akin to slowly smoking cannabis 🌿 the soporific effect is other worldly for sure! Let’s check out my nine criteria 👇🏼

Some nice looking bottles but will they stand up to rigorous taste testing? Let’s dive in with Thatcher’s Haze 4.5% Somerset 🍎 and the second can, Sainsbury Original Dry Cider also 4.5%

So as you can see two ciders each end of the spectrum here and both have scored highly on my 9 criteria
So next up is the 750ml bottle Merrydown 6.8%

Now a popular contender Rattler Cornish cyder 5.5% 🐍🍏

Cider is a perfect drink for 12 hours of festival outdoors 🌞
Let’s try a Herefordshire cider now, Henry Weston’s 7.3% cloudy vintage beast 🦬

And now the weakest contender with a lesson to be learned 🥝🍏 Old Mout Kiwi & Lime by Bulmers of Hereford 4% (oh dear 🙄) 😴👇🏼

So !! Not all cider is created equal
From 4% to over 8%, silver to deep gold, fizzy, flat, cloudy or clear, takes yer pick of Britain’s greatest homegrown product and most healthy beverage by far — let’s conclude how these tastings went and what to look 👀 out for plus how consumer reviewing fine tunes your analytical thinking 🤔

Nothing more delightful than a quiet cider orchard = try Britain’s best air and birdsong 🐦🎶
See you next month for stage 2! Battle of the Ciders
